About Carda

Rehab is a pain. So much so that only 10% of qualifying Cardiac and Pulmonary patients attend, which results in complications for patients and at least $190B in excess costs. At Carda Health, we’ve reimagined rehab. Our program allows patients to complete engaging, compassionate, and life-saving rehabilitation remotely.

Who are we?

We are a team of clinicians, data scientists, mathematicians and repeat entrepreneurs. And one recovering financier. Our united belief is that technology and data, when applied compassionately, can transform individuals’ lives and change even the most entrenched industries. Carda was founded by Harry and Andrew, two friends from Wharton who share a family history of heart disease and experience with Cardiac Rehab. We now work with some of America’s largest and top-ranked hospitals and most innovative insurers. We are fortunate to be backed by some of the best investors in the business who have also backed the likes of Livongo, Mammoth Biosciences, and Ro to name a few.

What we're looking for

We are looking for a talented full-stack software engineer who loves building phenomenal products that have real meaning and add real value to people’s lives. You’ll work across the full stack from UI to business logic, backend APIs, data storage and architecture, and more. You’ll have a rare opportunity to work directly with the founders to build the product and infrastructure supporting the future of Carda Health. As an early hire in a pivotal role, you’ll have strong technical ownership and also help navigate uncharted business and product challenges.

This position is open to part-time and full-time candidates.

In this role, you'll:

  • Architect, develop, and deliver new functionality in the web-based version of our core product -- the app that delivers our remote rehab programs to patients and clinicians
  • Build robust backend APIs, data models, and systems that will support both the frontend and the iOS app being built in parallel by your peers
  • Play a key role in developing the product vision
  • Collaborate closely with everyone on the team. We welcome and encourage direct, honest and constructive feedback
  • Support a thoughtful and fast-paced engineering culture of code quality, documentation and design tradeoffs
  • Work remotely and flexibly — we’re all remote too!

What you bring to the team:

  • History of technical ownership for significant engineering projects
  • 3+ years of full time, full-stack web application development experience across frontend, backend, and infrastructure
  • 3+ years of experience building backend services and APIs with frameworks like Ruby on Rails, Django, Node.js, or similar
  • Solid understanding of web APIs, networking fundamentals, database principles, and other technical foundations
  • Positive attitude in the face of challenges and dogged determination to solve puzzles with little direction in a high-growth, early stage startup
  • Proven ability to take product ownership and deliver successful results
  • A keen eye for product and user experience
  • Demonstrable interest in learning and adopting new tools and techniques

Bonus if you have:

  • Experience working with native client applications (iOS or Android)
  • Previous experience at an early stage startup
  • Experience working with HIPAA compliant applications and data
  • Experience working with Bluetooth
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
